{tutorial} DIY Herbal Pregnancy Tea Blend

This is the pregnancy tea blend that I have been drinking throughout my third trimester. The recipe is inspired by Rosemary Gladstar's home study course and other herbal reference books that I have. It is full of  herbs that contain vitamins and minerals as well as herbs that are great for helping the body prepare for birth. I would recommend that you research and learn about any herb that you are going to take before you use it. Get to know and feel the herb. Don't just take it because someone tells you to or says that it is good for you.

{review} Moraki AI2/Pocket Cloth Diaper

Moraki provided this diaper to me for review purposes.

Charlie started Moraki because she had a desire to protect her babies and the earth. She created a diaper that worked for her family consistently - she wanted a diaper that contained messes, was cute, that would fit a baby from newborn to toddler stages, and it had to support families in America. All of the diapers are handmade in the USA by moms in La Mesa, California and all of their suppliers are located in the United States (most of which are family owned operations)! Moraki also strives to be eco-friendly by using recycled envelopes with little to no packing material. Moraki stands behind their diapers and offers a 30 day wash and wear guarantee and an 18 month warranty.

{recipe} Coconut Banana Bread

My mom always made really good banana bread; however the recipe she used wasn't the healthiest so I modified her recipe to create this coconut banana bread using more whole food ingredients. I usually make it in my Blendtec blender so it is super fast to throw together; but I've also made it in my mixer and mixed it by hand. I've made it using all different kinds of healthy sweeteners and they all turn out good. If you don’t have raw cane sugar, evaporated cane juice, organic Sucanat, or coconut palm sugar, you can always use plain old white sugar, we just prefer to use something a little healthier.

{review} Glow Bug Cloth Diapers

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers was started by two friends, Sarah and Neta. They wanted to produce a high quality, affordable diaper that had all the features they wanted for their own children. So in 2011 they started the company. Glow Bug diapers are sold in packages so parents purchase a complete package of diapers to use from birth to potty training. Their website is full of information on cloth diapering – everything from what to do with the poo, to how to get a good fit with cloth diapers.

{Herbal Learning Guide} Lesson 1B: How to Make: Infusions/Decoctions

Although it is often times more convenient to purchase your herbal preparations already made, it is one of the basic rules of herbalists to know how to prepare herbs. This chapter we will talk about how to prepare herbal teas. Teas form the basis of herbal medicine, are one of the primary ways to enjoy herbs, and are one of the easiest herbal preparations to make but it is also a fine art.

{tutorial} Newborn Sized Pocket Cloth Diaper with Adjustable Elastic

This tutorial will show you how to sew your own newborn pocket diaper using adjustable elastic.

These diapers are equivalent in size to a disposable diaper size 1 and with the adjustable elastic they can be adjusted down a little smaller than the equivalent of a disposable size newborn. The cloth diaper has a snap to adjust for the umbilical cord as well. I like using the adjustable elastic so you can get a perfect fit for your baby. I hate it when I buy a cloth diaper and the legs are too big, which causes leaks, or too small, which just looks uncomfortable.  The adjustable elastic prevents this and you can also adjust it as your child grows. I also love using the adjustable elastic because I hate sewing regular elastic into diapers!

{Herbal Learning Guide} Lesson #1A: How to Tell Quality Herbs

Lesson 1A is a short one so there is going to be two parts of this lesson. First, how to determine good quality herbs; and second, a little information on the first herb order that I placed. I published a post similar to this last fall, but I wanted it to be in order for the lessons so I changed some things and republished it today.
