{review} Bebe Blando Cloth Diaper

The company:
Kate started sewing diapers for her girls in an effort to save money. She loved sewing so much that after they were all potty trained she just couldn’t stop sewing so she created her shop Bebe Blando to sell her creations.

Right now Bebe Blando makes and sells cloth diapers, cloth wipes, and maxaloones. In the future she hopes to offer kids clothing as well.

Most of Bebe Blando diapers are custom made to order. This is nice, because you can make requests and choose your own fabrics. Here are just a few of the fabrics that they currently have in stock. I love the flower fabric!

The Diaper
Bebe Blando makes two types of diapers – a sized side snapping diaper and a one size diaper. Both are A12 diapers with a snap in soaker, they have a knit outer, a hidden layer of PUL to make them waterproof, and a luxurious minky inner.  The soakers are made with four layers of Super Heavy Organic Bamboo Fleece (SHOBF) covered by a layer of minky.

Bebe Blando also makes an overnight diaper. The overnight diaper has a snap in soaker plus a snap on booster both made out of a layer of Zorb sandwiched between super heavy organic bamboo fleece. (Not pictured)

Sizing:
The diaper is a one size diaper designed to fit from about 10 pounds through potty training at around 35 pounds. The rise is adjusted by folding down the tummy panel to reveal a row of snaps. The wings are then snapped onto the inside tummy panel snaps instead of the outside tummy panel snaps.

Closures:
The diaper has snap closures with lots of snaps for easy adjustments.

AI2:
I like that the insert is removable. This way I can remove the snap in insert and replace it with a huge nighttime insert for my toddler son (aka the heavy wetter).

My Review and Star Rating:

Absorbency
We’ve mostly been using this diaper at night with my toddler since he is mostly potty trained. For nighttime us, I have been adding a toddler sized prefold, or a stay dry topped microfiber insert, on top of the snap in soakers that came with the diaper and we haven’t had any major leaks so far. It has worked fine as a nap time diaper on my toddler without any added inserts. At night, I leave the rise on the tallest setting for the best coverage.

Fit/Size
My toddler son loves this diaper. Most cloth diapers that I put on him he tells me are “too tight”. This one he has never complained about and is usually the one he asks to wear to bed. My toddler is currently about 25 pounds and 36 inches tall. It really fits him best when the rise is lowered and he has plenty of growing room in it. I think it may be too big to wear on a newborn baby but will probably work starting at around 12-15 pounds. For a toddler I would give it 5 stars, but for an infant I would give it 4 stars.

Thickness/Bulkiness
This diaper is not bulky. Especially compared to some other diapers that we have used.

Cuteness
I love the print and matching inner fabric that Kate picked out for us! And I love that she has so many cute fabrics to choose from.

Price
With a price tag of $25 this diaper is about the same cost as other name brand AI2. I love the fit, the prints, the design, and that purchasing it supports a WAHM. It is definitely the diaper my toddler asks for the most. and I think it is worth $25.

Overall
Overall, I really love this diaper. I love the way it fits my toddler; I love how soft and snuggly it is. I love that we can use it at night and we haven’t had any issues. I’m super excited to use it on my newborn in July (and I would love to try Babe Blando sized diapers on our newborn too!). Personally I would purchase another diaper, especially if Kate ever has a sale!

    ReplyDelete
  42. The cloth diapers are more convenient and better absorbent than they used to be. I like they are organic and natural.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I like the idea of the hidden PUL in the AI2! I have never owned or used an AI2 or a WAHM diaper. I would be happy to own one of these!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Not only are the diaper prints beyond adorable, I also really like how "thick" they are. I have a few diapers that are so thin..it's basically nothing. don't absorb well either. so I deff prefer thicker ones!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love the idea of AI2's! Our LO isn't here yet, but these look fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love that these diapers look so trim! The fabric patterns are fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  47. The patterns on the diapers. I used cloth diapers on my kids and they were white and horrible. I also like the natural aspect of it all it is so much better for the childrens skin. Good for her for keeping this going it is so much better for the environment too.

  48. Her prints! Seriously, could they be any cuter! Did you see the little blue guitars?!

  54. Nice job on the review. The fit looks really nice on your babe. I didn't see if she makes a snake style soaker, but I have found that most boys need these. You said you didn't have any major leaks. I'm assuming you still had some. To keep the bulk down you could also try adding a hemp booster doubled right up front under her pedal soaker.

  55. I like that the diapers are being shared. Effort was took to create these beautiful looking diapers yes to save money at first then for the pure joy of sharing.
