{Review} Organic Caboose Organic Cotton OS Fitted Diaper

First let off let me tell you - I hate night time cloth diapering! I love cloth for during the day but there have been many times that I have almost given up and gone back to disposables for night time (but then I remind myself about all those nasty plastic diapers going to the landfill and I figure hey so what if I have to change the bedding one more time?) But seriously, my son nurses all night long and he pees enough to prove it, so we have had too many leaky nighttime diapers to count. I have tried many expensive name brand cloth diapers and even with so many extra inserts shoved inside that my sons PJ pants are stretched like a rubber band, they still end up leaking about half the time.

When Organic Caboose sent me their Organic Cotton One-Size Fitted Cloth Diaper with Snap-in Insert, I thought it would just be another diaper for us to use during the day time even though most people I know use fitted diapers at night and not during the day. But I gave it a shot for nighttime and I was wrong - this diaper is awesome at night! So far we haven’t had any leaky diapers at all while using it! That alone gives it a 5 star rating in my book :)

This diaper is one of the softest luxurious diapers I have ever felt. The material is so soft I would love to have a blanket out of it. I love that even when its line dried it is still soft. I’ve never had a cotton diaper that stayed soft after being line dried; all my other cotton (and organic cotton) is super stiff afterwards, but the Organic Caboose diaper is not. When I first felt this diaper I thought to myself, “Geeze this diaper is like the difference between staying at Motel 6 verses staying at Four Seasons.”

It is really hard to get a wiggly toddler to stand still!

I think this diaper is neat because it can be adjusted so many different ways. Organic Caboose advertises that the diaper is made to fit from 7-35 lbs. It even has an umbilical cord snap for a newborn. I wish I had a newborn so I could see how it fits on a small baby. My son is 22 pounds and 2 years old (he’s super skinny) and it fits him well but it is a little bulkier than most diapers between his legs. But I can deal with extra bulk if I don’t have to deal with leaks. I like to leave the rise snaps unsnapped so that it is tall to help prevent night time leaks, but when I did snap it down to test out the fit, I found that it does get pretty bulky in the front. But this isn’t necessarily a bad thing – I look at it that this just makes it so there is more diaper in front for absorption.

I like that the snap in insert is long and can be folded in such a way as to customize where you need the most absorbency. At night I will fold it so the insert is only in the front of the diaper where we need it.

One more thing – This diaper is made in the USA!!! No China made diapers for Organic Caboose!

A little bit about the company - Organic Caboose® is a small company that provides organic and eco-friendly products manufactured and sourced in the USA for baby, family, and home.

Show them some love and check them out!

  1. I always did disposable diapers with my kids, but I know many moms who use cloth diapers and really like them. These sound great.

  2. Cloth diapers were used for a very long time before the advent of disposables-and those cloth diapers did not have inserts! I wonder why cloth diapers come out stiff when line dried--at least you have found a brand that works for your son.

  3. I have not been able to get into cloth diapering, but I do definitely know the angst in searching for a diaper that will prevent leaks. Good to hear you've found something that is working so well for you!

  4. My husband and I would like to have a baby in the next couple of years, and buying organic products will be a huge priority when we have children, as it is for the two of us even now before we have kids. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this product. I love your hotel analogy. ;) LOL

  5. Made in the USA great! Cloth diapers are great if you are able to be home with your child. I know a lot of daycares won't accept them. Which is a shame.

  11. Many years ago, I used cloth diapers on my daughter. I always thought they were better for her. We only used non-cloth when we were away from home for a long time. These sound like a great product.

  17. I really like that this diaper is organic and that it can be adjusted many different ways. I recently learned that there are a lot of unknown chemicals in disposable diapers which I never knew when my boys were babies.

  19. Since I'm the eldest of the family, I know that most of my family members use cloth diapers for babies, especially since plastic ones are a bit expensive for some. This is really great, especially cause it doesn't leak.
