Simple Sorting Game for Toddlers and Young Children

sorting

Here is a simple and quick sorting game for toddlers and young children. This will help children learn colors, shapes, recognize similarity in objects and fine motor skills.

Materials Needed:
4 Envelopes
4 Different Colored Papers
Scissors
Tape

I took four envelopes and taped them to the wall. I cut out four different shapes in different colors. I did green triangles, red circles, orange squares and yellow rectangles. I then put one of each shape on each envelope and wrote the color and shape name on it. I mixed up a bag of all the different shapes and let me son put them in the correct envelope. Feel free to mix it up and add your own creativity to it.  This took me about ten minutes to set up and kept my toddler busy for a lot longer! I keep it set up in our play room so he can sort as he pleases. Have fun!

  1. I have been doing the matching card game with my son. However, this seems so much better. I am going to have to try this with him this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
