I found Tres Classique through pure accident. My friend’s husband had just brought some Tres Classique’s products home from a recent trip and I just happened to be at their house when he was giving them to his wife as a birthday present. Oh my, they were the most unique flavor I have ever tasted and I had to buy my own.
First of all let me tell you that I hate vinegar, or so I thought. I dislike mustard, pickles, vinegar potato chips, anything with that vinegar twang. Then I tried Tres Classique and I realized there must be different categories of vinegar, there must be cheap vinegar (you know the ones you can purchase a whole bottle for a couple bucks) and there must be gourmet vinegar. Tres Classique is definitely in the gourmet category.
Not only do I love the taste, but all their products contain no sodium, no cholesterol, no added sugar, no preservatives, and they are gluten free! The vinegar itself acts as the preservative so nothing else is needed. This means no added chemicals!! In addition, each balsamic vinegar is also fat free and vegan friendly, and per tablespoon only contains 12-18 calories and 2 to 4 carbs. I feel absolutely ok with feeding Tres Classique products to my family.
Here is a little bit of information about the company – Started in 1985, Tres Classique is a small company located in the city of Ukiah, nestled in Northern California’s wine country. Ukiah is about two hours north of San Francisco. They sell their custom infused balsamic vinegar and oils at farmer’s markets, street fairs, winery events, and Christmas festivals. They believe in this “grass roots” marketing so that customers can sample their products. They take about 15 of their approximately 50 flavors to the events.
Some of the balsamic flavors include: Strawberry, Wild Blueberry, Apple, Haberrano, Black Current, Oregano White Balsamic, Midnight Cherry, Peach, Pomegranate, Coconut, Pina Colada, and of course Classic Balsamic. Some of the vinaigrette flavors include: Asian Splash (a blend of toasted sesame seed oil and coconut white balsamic), Garlic Balsamic Bread Dipping Oil, Island Splash (lime rice bran oil and tropical coconut white balsamic), Lemon Splash, Raspberry Balsamic Vinaigrette, and Valencia Splash. So far I have tasted the Strawberry, Wild Blueberry, Apple, Haberrano, and coconut balsamic; their lemon splash balsamic vinaigrette, and the lemon sauvignon splash. They are all wonderful and I hope to try more flavors soon. They are a great way to add flavor and variety to our diets without adding anything artificial or chemical laden. My family likes these flavors so much (even Baby E likes them!) that I am going to try to incorporate Tres Classique products into our regular cooking and post recipes and tips to help you do the same.
